What I See in Ganesha (A Personal Look)

In his portly, paunchy stature, I see acceptance of the God-given
and a disregard for shape

In his broken tusk, acceptance of incompleteness

In his large ears and small eyes, the imperfection of our senses

In the legend of him circumambulating his parents, I see the knowledge
that the world and the universe can be as large or small as you want for them to be

In the mouse, his vehicle, the importance of the seemingly insignificant

In the modak* he relishes, the sweetness of all things

In his invocation at new beginnings, a universal invitation to good fortune

In his annual installation and immersion, the cyclicality of life
