Sometimes, the depths of my heart speak to me
And I get the feeling that you were created just for me
And were brought down from your dwelling amid the stars
To grace this earth for me alone and simply for me
Sometimes, the depths of my heart speak to me
And I get the feeling that this body, these eyes, are a treasure all mine
The shade beneath your flowing tresses my shelter from life’s storms
These inviting lips and these comforting arms, a gift divine
Sometimes, the depths of my heart speak to me
And in the faint echo I hear wedding vows as I look wonderstruck into your face
I dream of myself then lifting your bridal veil at night
And you shyly surrendering to my beckoning embrace
Sometimes, the depths of my heart speak to me
And I imagine that your love will last past eternity
And forever will you cast on me your loving gaze
How do I ever accept that it was never meant to be
Sometimes from the depths of this unforgetting heart, these feelings overflow
And demand to be heard, they just won’t take a no
As much as I try, to their voice I cannot turn a deaf ear
So, as they talk, I listen to this ballad and shed a silent tear
My translation of the lyrics (with creative license) to this remix of a Hindi classic:

My dear friend Kunal
This is so soulful and makes me emotional. You took the song to greater heights with your words. The pain of lost love, classic tragic lovers! So beautifully portrayed. So poignant. Got Misty eyed.

Before there was VHS and DVD’s there was Bombay Cinema in NYC. It was my first exposure to Bollywood, and man that movie was long and filled with unlikely coincidental plot twists. But, I can still play the melody in my memory, “Kabhie Kabhie mere dil mein, khayal aata…” How can you go wrong with a Amitabh classic?

Kya hua. You know Kunal, I didn’t read the translation. It’s too beautiful in English. It was like an echo from my heart too. I hope our dreams come true. If mine does, you will be the first one to know. After reading this , Thera haq bantha hai.
