Bubbly & Brandy, Not So Dandy

I’m going through a Francophile phase
Cultivating refined French taste
Drinking no water, champagne instead
No roti-subzi*,  but caviar on lightly toasted bread
Early morning, crosissant with bubbly
I begin the day with a flute of Pommery
Lunch, I alternate between Lanson & Besserat de Bellefon
Dinner is invariably uncorking the Billecart-Salmon

Weekends, I reach for Moet et Chandon
Nights are for the much acclaimed Dom Perignon
For a change, I pop open a Louis Roederer
Or if I’m the mood, I’ll spray some Pol Roger

Champagne showers are best with Bollinger
Or otherwise with Laurent-Perrier or Taittinger
Romance with Duval Leroy, Veuve Clicquot, Nicolas Feuillatte
Canard-Duchêne, Ayala, Piper-Heidsieck or Dom Ruinart

I’ve learned not to chug  the Krug, but I’m still a bum
Even if I can appreciate that GH Mumm is yum
So, every day I’m going through a magnum
And that’s not all, read on, there’s more to come

Apres supper, it’s time for a fine cognac
Nursing it, sipping it till it’s time to hit the sack
Crystal bottles, all kinds of XO and VSOP
Remy Martin, A de Fussigny and Hennessy

Hine Antique, Hardy and Courvoisier
Kelt, Metaxa, De Luze and Gautier
Although the difference between a Louis XIII and Martell
Meukow or Pierre Ferrand, for the life of me I can’t tell

I’d gladly reach for another glass of Camus
Without hesitation or the least bit of of fuss
But it hurts when every gratifying drop going down my gullet
Burns an excruciatingly big hole in my rather slim wallet

*roti-subzi is the traditional Indian meal comprising flatbreads with vegetables
