Krishna

The blue skin,
the radiance

The peacock feather crest,
its luminescence

The mellifluous flute,
the divine tunes it emanates

The stolen butter,
the gopis’ hearts

Radha’s love,
and Mirabai’s and Sudama’s

The boyish mischief,
the depth of the Gita’s verses

The rich lore, the legends,
the myths and metaphors

It’s all of these and much more,
the indescribable, that charms & enraptures
the multitude of millions over the millennia

Today is Janmashtami, or a celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna
(think Christmas for Jesus!)

gopis – the maidens whose hearts He captivated
Radha – His consort
Mirabai – 16th century saint & devotee
Sudama – Krishna’s childhood friend

      1. Oh wow, no I have not… Is there a collection of these tales that you would recommend? I’d love to read the myths and tales of Krishna … perhaps especially when not in “God-mode.” Blessings to you!

      2. Umm, I’m sure there’s a treasure trove online. I remember some from way back when we used to get comics about these. Try Krishna & the cowherds, K and the Gopis, K and the raas Leela, him & Meerabai, Sudama, Radha etc as your search words. Or simply google stories about Krishna? Good luck, enjoy
