All it takes is a match to spark a lamp
In the darkness of ignorance
The wick then takes its light
And sucks the ghee of knowledge
Extinguishing the darkness
And glowing bright
Flickering at times
Like doubts in the mind
But continuing to shine
An illuminating beacon
Even while being contained as it is
In the small mud vessel of the body
It can kindle other such diyas
Or burn on into the night
Till it has drained all the ghee in the pot
And then it burns brightest
Till light merges into darkness once more
Only the darkness now
Is lit by the light of inner reflection
In Hindi, a diya is an earthen lamp
This poem gives a wise and lovely light!

So beautifully penned words, Kunal and the darkness that gets dispelled with the pure light of the diya. And when it is drained of all the ghee it shines the brightest. So true. Lovely poem.

Reminds me of that old story when the wise son lights a lamp to fill the whole room to impress his father !! Well said. “An illuminating beacon
Even while being contained as it is” Superb lines. Deep meaning !
