The moon shone
The stars twinkled
The second hand ticked
The turntable slowly revolved
The music played on
An endless, maudlin melody
His thoughts stagnated, focusing on a fixity
And he decided this had to be The End
So he raised his hand
To hit the stop button

Instead, his heart took over
Rewound to the beginning
And began replaying the song
From the very first note

The turntable began its slow, circular, melancholy motion
Once more

  1. Ah, so good. You know…I just got a turntable and have been enjoying buying and playing vinyl again. It really is the superior sound. I was going to write my own poem about it, so I smiled when I saw yours. 🙂
