There shall be showers of blessings
This is the promise of God
There shall be seasons refreshing
Sent from the Saviour above
Showers of blessings , showers of blessings we need
Mercy drops round us are falling
But for the showers we weep π
A hymn we sing in Church . God knows we need ’em both , blessings and mercy for our merciless acts .
Loved the verse.
What a positive view about rain. It’s monsoon season here in my country, too. Ironically, I associate rain with gloom. So thank you for letting me see a lighter view for rain!
I types a whole hymn earlier , and said I loved your verse π Gosh ! Anyway π I loved this , it reminded me of a lovely hymn .
A four line verse is my weakness always !!!
I’m reminded of the song: It’s raining men- Hallelujah – yeah it’s crazy how my mind worksπ But I guess I have had rain on my mind and glad to see you join me. I think rain lends itself beautifully to poetry. It is the lifeblood of the universe but it can also be cantankerous, moody, jealous and destructive. Something you can get irritated with when it is incessant but sorely miss when it doesn’t fall. We had late rains during our last Summer and had droughts in many parts of the country which we’re still feeling the impacts of. Besides, I notice that after a long dry spell, we can’t wait for rain to clear all the negative ions. So – your expression of gratitude is welcome. Sorry – that sounds like a speech now π
It’s raining cats & dogs, Chev, unfortunately no men! π
It does become messy and slushy but I am grateful for them. We’ve had farmer suicides, etc so they are a blessing overall!
No men – ah damn! Poor animalsπ But on a serious note, rain is good – we just have to manage against floods etc. With Climate change, we will see more changing patterns.
I’m supposed to be taking a break in case you don’t see me around for a little while but I’ve been known to break my own rulesπ
Send some of that rain over our way!

Are you serious? Much as I dislike the mess they create, we need them, don’t you think? π

Not all day everyday. We could use some Sun now and then. But that’s where I’m at, I’m sure the rains aren’t as mental down in the plains. π

Yep, Simla. This is the first time I’ve heard good words for the rain from a Bombaywala. I need to reach your level of Monsoon Zen. π
