LOVE’S RESPONSIBILITY

As I think of her
I think of dew drops
Delicate

Butterfly wings
Like gossamer

A spider web
Fragile
And willowy

Flower petals
Tender
And soft

The finest-spun muslin
Subtle
And rarefied

Before I entreat  her
To entrust me
As guardian of her heart
Am I sure I am worthy
And capable of holding it gently enough
Can I tend to it benignly
Can I fulfill its desires
Am I compassionate enough
Can I nurture it with happiness always

For it is her life
More than her hand
That I will be asking for

And living my dream
Demands duty of me

      1. I’m not really sure. Responsibility does kind of make it seem like a business transaction. Duty is better but still not great. Anyway. I wouldn’t worry about it. The sentiment came across. Very sweet.

  2. Dear, how do you write such things? Beautiful! Your metaphors are one of a kind. I’m not even going to start describing your works(which I already am, helplessly).
